THOMAS ROTH has been working as an independent director and writer since 1995. He gave up his music career at an early stage in order to direct music videos, TV reports, live broadcasts and finally feature films.
He has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Erich Neuberg Prize, 2 Golden Romys and a Golden Ticket for “Falco, quit living on dreams” which still is one of the most successful Austrian theatrical movies of the last 20 years.
Thomas Roth is the writer and director of the award-winning TV series “Trautmann” as well as series and films for major German broadcasters ARD and ZDF such as “Tatort”, “Der Kommissar und das Meer”, “Kommissar Dupin” and “Der Kriminalist”. Most of the episodes directed by Thomas have achieved the highest ratings of the entire series regularly reaching up to or more than 7 million viewers in Germany.
Thomas Roth’s latest film “Schächten” has been shown at more than 40 film festivals around the world. It has been acquired by an American distributor and will be released in the USA later this year.
